Toys won bronze at the IPVISE AI Film Forum

Where the idea came from, and what it was made with.

Toys, my two-minute AI short film, took bronze at the IPVISE AI Film Forum. The brief was “Your Vision of the AI Era”, and my first decision was to stay away from science fiction: no robots, nothing that looks like the future. I wanted to bring the AI era down to the human level, to a house, a child, a mother and the technology already sitting on the shelf. And I wanted it to be heartwarming.

The initial idea was about a girl who writes her own stories and dreams of making her characters real. To fit the brief and the two-minute limit, I distilled it into what Toys is today: a five-year-old whispers a wish to her teddy bear, and her voice assistant mishears it as a command.

The stills were made with Nano Banana Pro and GPT Image 2. The video was generated with Happy Horse, a model I had never worked with before, and I was surprised by how well it adapted to the different textures the film needed: 2D drawings, 3D characters and plastic toys.
